Hello,

We are planning on guiding users towards using the devolutions workspace browser extension to store their passwords to keep everything in the same ecosystem.
We currently use devolutions server and RDM. most end users do not have rights to store passwords directly in the main vault, but of course the extension allows them to store in their personal vault.
When setting up the extension,

users are giving these options. It looks to me like there is not a difference between having them link RDM vs. Devolutions server, what are pros and cons of each choice? is there something else under the hood that would influence our decision as how how to guide the users to make this selection?

Hi Ross,

The difference is that the Devolutions Server option connects to the DVLS server directly, while the Remote Desktop Manager option talks to RDM on the local computer, for this reason RDM needs to be opened for the credentials to be available in the web extension. In your case, I would suggest using the Devolutions Server setup which is much more convenient.

The RDM mode can be useful for example if you want to use credentials in a local data source (ex. SQLite).

Hope that helps!

Hello Sebastien,

thank you so much.
one last question: I see devolutions hub for business is a separate product to store passwords in your secure cloud environment. would purchasing it be perhaps discounted if we already utilize devolutions server and just seek a stop gap for our users to be able to access their passwords in situations where they cannot connect to our devo server? might be a question for a sales person :)

Hello Ross,

Thank you for contacting us.

Devolutions Hub could be a suitable stop-gap solution for accessing passwords when users cannot connect to Devolutions Server.

I will be glad to discuss some pricing options with you via email.

Best regards,

Mat
