We recently had a Problem while trying to migrate our Passwords from RemoteDesktopManager to 1Passsword.

After connecting our RDM with 1Password and putting the Passwords for accessing the Servers in 1Password we realized that the associated reference to that in RDM couldnt idenify the username and Password. That was because our 1Password is german. After changing the german word for username to actually «username»(and the same thing with the password) the RDM could identify the password and username and it worked.
Other possibility is, to ouput an warning/error if the 1passwort element doesnt exist while open the RDM connection.

Hello,

The reason this doesn't work at the moment is because in the first case, the fields are custom fields and not 1Password's own "username" and "password" fields.

We could add fields for "Username search field" and "Password search field" which would require you to fill them with the appropriate values to let RDM know where to fetch this information from. In your case, you would need to enter "Benutzername" and "Passwort" in those fields respectively. We already have a field for "Domain search field" which was created because 1Password doesn't have a natively supported domain field, so we need RDM to look into a generic field with a specific name for the information.

Do you think this solution would work for you?

Hello Hubert
Thank you for your proposal. the proposed solution with the search fields would be very welcome.
Can you give us an info when these improvements will be implemented ?

Hello,

Thank you for the confirmation. We should be able to add this for our RDM 2023.3 release next week if everything goes well. I'll keep you updated here.
