Unless the notes entry is encrypted, it would be very useful to be able to search for its contents in advanced search. I use the note type to document product features that would not be well reflected in any other type of entry. I style the note as a Markdown table. I would like to be able to use advanced search to find notes that match multiple conditions (search queries).
I tried using Documentation as I can search for documentation content, but I need to be able to set multiple conditions and this is unfortunately not possible with Documentation search. Also, from the aesthetic side I prefer the note as it appears in the list between the devices and one does not have to click through the devices to find the documentation page.
Hello,
Unfortunately, the Secure Note entry's content is saved as sensitive data (whether the "is sensitive" box is checked or not), which makes this much more difficult on our end. We will monitor this thread to see our community's feedback, but at the moment this won't be in our priorities.

This year we switched from lastpass and we have also noticed that we can't search content inside [secure note].
Even in search bar > ... > field options you can select [include notes].
I have been searching under advanced search but couldn't find any option.
We live without that for now but also search for some solution.
If it will not be possible to search inside secure note by any mean is there option to create normal note?
Maybe option to convert secure note to normal note?

Hello Darko,
It's not possible with Secure Notes for now, but we are noting your interest in this request.
As a note, the "Include notes" option for the filter checks the "Notes" section of the Asset tab in the entries. To gain access to this section you need to go in the Vault Settings and enable "Allow note in asset"
After enabling this, you will see a tab Notes here:
We don't recommend using this feature, as we instead recommend using the Documentation feature which is richer in features and actively supported.

thank you for info about [Note] and [Allow note in asset].
I agree that this note is not a solution for us.
We want entry as [secure note] but with option to be searchabe.
Maybe option [is sensitive] would be good option to use for that or maybe to ad option [is searchabe].
When you enable [is sensitive] content is not searchable and you can't see it on right side but you must opet file and click [view].
Can I use some other entry type to behave like secure note so we can see content on right side and to searchable?
I have tried to create text document in database but I must open that entry to see content and as I can see it is also not searchable.
As solution we will maybe move content from note to description and then secure note become searchabe entry.

Hello,
We have noted your ideas for the improvement, but at the moment due to the way the Secure Notes are saved, it's not possible to search within them.
As you say, it could be a workaround for you to put the content of the note in the description, since this field is not encrypted and thus, searchable.
Alternatively, maybe you could use the "Documentation editor" entry, as I believe its content should be searchable using the documentation search feature (but the documentation search is not available through the filter in the tree, unfortunately).

Hello,
From the message, it seems to be an error happening server-side in Devolutions Server. I will let the DVLS team know, but this is a bug and you don't need to enter any additional information.

Hello,
Regarding the Documentation tab, I would like to point out that although it is searchable, it is not possible to set multiple conditions as in the advanced search. Therefore, we would appreciate it if notes could also be searched via the advanced search. Would it be possible to create a new type of note, similar to the secure note, but searchable?
Regards,
Daniel Vavrik
Hello Daniel,
We will consider this if we decide it's truly not possible to search within secure notes, but we would rather improve the existing entry than create a different one that would achieve exactly the same thing except that it would be searchable.

Hi
I created a ticket for the problem with adding a Documentation Editor entry with DVLS.
I'll let you know here when it's done.

I am new here, can I ask a question?
Hello,
Sure thing, ask away.

Have you perhaps managed to enable searching within secure notes? I mean, the data inside isn’t encrypted, so it seems like this should be doable.
It also seems that searching within the document editor isn’t possible either, unless you navigate directly to the document itself, where you can search within it.
The description field works fine, but I run into issues when I want to show something to someone during a presentation or similar situation and don’t want the data we’ve recorded to be visible.

Hello,
We don't search in the note for now. The data is not encrypted but it's not in plain text. We would have to decode the data for each session. It's possible to do but this needs to be an option. I have created a ticket to consider the Non sensitive note content as description in search.
