Password generator with variables and fixed characters
0 vote
I would like to configure a password generator to use a specific scheme. Variables play a big role here.
The password scheme should be composed as follows:
Test123-$variable$-$variable$
For the variables it should be possible to specify how many characters are used. E.g. always the first three characters. In addition, it should be possible to assign fixed characters that are always used bevore, between, and after the variables.
Test123-$variable$-$variable$ --> Test123-tes-tes
Thank you in advance
Hello,
Thank you for the suggestion. I have opened a ticket.
Just to confirm with you, are you using the "use a pattern" mode for the password generator? Otherwise, what mode are you using?

I have not found a mode where I could use variables. I think the best would be a separate mode "custom" where a fixed string including variables can be specified.

Hello,
Maybe the one thing I'm not understanding is where those variables are coming from. Are you thinking of using the password generator from a saved entry, and those variables being for example $NAME$ or $CUSTOM_FIELD1$ which would resolve to the values stored in the entry? Otherwise, what do those variables resolve to?

Hubert Mireault
Hello, yes exactly. The variables should always refer to the stored entry where the password generator is called.
Thank you for the information, I have added this to the internal ticket.

Hello, can you tell me if the ticket is on the roadmap?
Hello,
This is not currently planned in the short term, but we are keeping an eye out for additional feedback from our community regarding this. Our internal ticket is still opened.
