I'm runniung RDM 5.6.3.0 (free), and when I originally set it up I chose "Auto run at startup", which does just that. Now that I've used RDM for a while I decided I *don't* want it to auto-start (it starts fast enough for me when I need it), so I UN-checked "Auto run at startup". The problem is that this setting is NOT honored. If I un-check it, close out of the options dialog, and immediately go back into options, it is CHECKED again.
How do I get this thing to stop auto-starting?
Hi,
This setting come from the registry, maybe you don't have the right to modify it, can you check the application log in the menu Help ?
Remove the entry from the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Value: RemoteDesktopManager

Well, this is really weird... before I even posted here I naturally looked in the Run registry hive you list above, and there WAS no RemoteDesktopManager. I just checked again, and there is nothing related to RemoteDesktopManager there. And just out of curiosity, there isn't anything under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key, either.
This is on Win7 x64... I wonder if RDM is not compliant in some way, and the "registry virtualization" features in Win7 are hiding the real Run key from view?? In any case, as it stands, RDM is auto-starting and there is no Run key I can find associated with it. Bizarre.
Hi,
I never tested the auto run in Windows 7, you are probably right it must be related to the registry virtualization.

Maybe this might help:

You can try to do a search for RemoteDesktopManager, maybe you will find it.

I found it! It is in HKLM\Software\Wow3264Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run ;-)
Thank you for your help.
