Hi,

In SSH Shell host under Advanced tab you can set environment variables, is it possible to call these variables in a typing macro tool?

Hello Marcush,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this matter.

Regarding your question, the variables you mentioned could be entered into your SSH session using Typing Macro. However, please keep in mind that your server must allow for environmental variables for this to work.

Hi,

Thanks for the explanation, i guess i need another solution then.
What i am looking for is a way to set specific values on host that can be used in typing macro, everything should be client side it is just to make ssh config of multiple devices easier.

as example i am going to set ports on a vlan on switches, on switch 1 that is port "3,6" and on switch 2 that is "8,9" i want to have these values on the host object as variables.
In typing macro i want to have it get these values and then use them in the command in the macro when it is run on that host.

This macro will most likely be used in playlists also.

Is there any good way to achieve this?

Hello Marcus,

Thank you for reaching out and providing your feedback. I'm glad to hear that I was able to assist you.

In regards to using variables in your SSH session, you can easily do so by selecting your entry and going to the properties section. From there, navigate to the Security setting or use the search bar to find variables. Once you locate it, simply check the option to allow a password in a variable.

I hope this information was helpful. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
