Password seal / four-eyes principle

Password seal / four-eyes principle

avatar

Hello,

two things...

a)
Is there any password seal feature in RDM?
What I mean is:

  • Creating a new password with an option "sealed"
  • When opening, a warning is displayed - like "Warning, this password is sealed, an administrator will be informed, when opening"
  • When seal is broken by opening the credential-object (viewing), someone get's notified
  • Icon changes to a "broken" symbol

We already have special secured folders for realy sensitive passwords, but are looking for a very special password saving possibility.

b)
Is there a way to realize a four-eyes principle within RDM? E.g. viewing special passwords/objects?

Best regards
Daniel

Hello,

As far as I know, both are not something possible in Remote Desktop Manager but I will verify with the engineering department!

Hello,
It's a good feature to add and this was also requested in another thread:

https://forum.devolutions.net/topics/34291/sealed-entries

I will bump the priority

Hello,

I'm looking forward for that feature. I think, it is only a matter of time, we need to fulfill more customer-concerns - not only regarding security reasons, not only regarding enterprise customers.

I'll stay tuned, regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

The "sealed entry" feature is available in Devolutions Server since version 2024.2. Here's our RDM help topic regarding it: https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/kb/knowledge-base/sealed-entries/
We are also planning to bring this feature to Hub eventually.

Thank you Hubert!

I will try that in the next time.

Hello again,

I do not find this in our setup:

You wrote "available in Devolutions Server", so that clearly means: Only in Devolutions Server, *not available* in e.g. RDM/SQL. Right?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Best regards,
Daniel

You're correct, this is not available in RDM with SQL Server. You will need to use Devolutions Server as the datasource (and in the future, it will be available in Hub Business as well).
We need to have the middle layer (DVLS) between the client (RDM) and the database (SQL Server) to properly handle this feature, so this is why it's not available in 'standalone' SQL Server, as this middle layer does not exist.
