I suppose this is probably a silly question, but.....

I retired a couple of years ago. As such I no longer needed RDM (and lots of other stuff that my employer wouldn't pay for, so I paid for it myself), so I let my subscription lapse. Recently I have started getting into I.T again, mainly just for my own interest, and have been setting up a lab. I thought I would be able to download an old version of RDM (one that was from the time I had a valid subscription) and use it, but it seems that I can't use ANY version of RDM (apart from the free version, but that's not the point!) without a current subscription.

Is that correct? 8 years of buying subscriptions (from 2013 to 2021), and I don't even get to continue using old versions? What a waste of money that turned out to be. I suppose it was probably in the T and Cs somewhere, so it's my own fault for being unaware of this, but gosh, after a few hundred dollars of subscriptions over many years I would have thought that would have counted for something, and I would at least be able to continue using a horribly out of date version - after all, what's the point of keeping old versions on the Devolutions site for downloading.

I am hoping someone will tell me I am wrong and I just need to download an even older version.....

UPDATE - looks like the problem was ME, not serials or licenses or anything - I just had to get a version old enough to recognise my old serial. Consider this case closed! ;-)

Hello,

Glad that you have been able to use an old version with your old number, but since you are a single user at home with a small network, I think that our Free Edition of RDM could fit your needs.

Simply download RDM Free here and use this version instead of your old version.

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais

Thanks Jeff. You are right - the free version should take care of my needs at the moment. I just have this horrible affliction where I like the biggest and the best (ie the paid version) even if it's not really appropriate!!

Hello,
I'm glad to hear that you've found a solution. However, I would like to take a moment to explain the changes that have taken place at Devolutions.

We have transitioned from a perpetual license model to a subscription model, as RDM has evolved from a standalone tool to a comprehensive solution requiring regular updates, particularly for security reasons. This new model ensures that our customers always have access to the latest security features and improvements.

To provide added value for our users, we have made many features previously available only in the paid version accessible in the Free version. The paid version remains especially beneficial for multi-user environments, offering additional features and benefits tailored to such scenarios.

We highly recommend using the latest Free version of RDM to ensure that you're not at risk and that you have the best possible product experience and user satisfaction.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

David Hervieux
