Hi,

What is your application version number?

The version number can be found in the about section of the navigation drawer.

Can you try to reconnect (it will fail) and immediately after, open the navigation drawer, select Help and Support and then select 'Submit a support ticket'. Fill out the information and close the windows by selecting 'OK'. This will send the application logs to our support team. It might help us find why you are not able to connect.

Hi,

We are having the same problem here. When I connect to a Windows Server 2012 works flawlessly but when trying to connect to a server 2008 R2 connection drops inmediately without even logging in or showing any graphics.
Event viewer on server show the following error: "Windows logon process terminated unexpectedly."
I've tried changing port, codec, login info, experience settings... without any resoult.

Do you have any updates on this topic?

Thanks!

Is TLS enabled on your Windows Server 2008 R2?

Here I am having problems connecting on Windows Server 2012 R2.

A solution at the moment I found, downloading the apk here on the platform.
I made the configuration and connected normally.

Hi paulo_chevy

Thanks for confirming that the earlier .apk works. Based on your log file, this looks like a regression in our RDP engine (FreeRDP). I'm still working on narrowing down exactly the cause of the problem.

If possible, can you try your connection with the latest .apk, but in the RDP "Local Resources" settings:

- set "Remote audio" to "Do not play"
- set "Remote audio recording" to "Do not record"
- disable all options under "Local Devices and Resources" (e.g. Printers, Serial Ports, etc).

Is the result any different?

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if something isn't clear or you have further questions.

Kind regards,

Richard Markievicz

Hello

First, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble connecting.

I'd like to understand if this is the same issue, or something distinct (since OP is unable to connect to Win2k12 server, but for you it seems Win2k8 is the problem).

Can you please follow my colleague's instructions earlier in the thread to generate diagnostic information?

See this post.

Please let me know if something isn't clear or if you have other questions or feedback.

Thanks and kind regards,

I don't really know if the issue is exactly the same but feels like it because both seem to be caused by the new release and "break" previously working RDP sessions. I ended up fixing the issue by downloading the apk from your web page (v4) and installing it directly. Now it seems to be working.

Thanks!

Hello again

For RDM on platforms other than Windows, our RDP implementation uses FreeRDP as the backend (Microsoft does not support integrating or embedding their own RDP client on platforms other than Windows). We maintain our own fork of the FreeRDP source code with various bug fixes and changes to allow integration into RDM.

Periodically, we update our FreeRDP fork with the latest changes from the source project (upstream). This is important because it's how we integrate new features and bug fixes and, most importantly, security updates. However, every time we update there is a non-zero risk of introducing new bugs or regressions - it's simply not practical to evaluate every different connection scenario on every different platform.

Our most recent update introduced a handful of RDP regressions (most specifically, connections using RDP security or certain RD Gateway configurations could be affected) but with feedback from our users we were able to patch and resolve those issues quickly.

I believe the problem reported on this thread is also a regression from our most recent update, and it's likely related to the auto-network configuration setting. We've already added some changes for the next update to allow this setting to be toggled by the user. I'm continuing to work on the root cause of the issue although my efforts have been delayed slightly by a significant weather event causing infrastructure problems for us here.

Anyway, I just wanted to explain a little bit about how RDP is integrated into our products and how there can potentially be more than one breaking change between versions. I'm glad that the prior version is still working well for you, but I encourage you to monitor the updates for this issue being resolved and switch back to running the latest release at the earliest opportunity.

I do apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or something isn't clear, please don't hesitate to post back

Thanks and kind regards

Hi paulo_chevy,

We've made some changes and would like to know if you could test an internal build. We can send you a private message via the forum with a link to download the application.

Hello

One other thing that could really help, is to see the licensing configuration of the Win2k12 server (I'll put a screenshot below so it's clear what I'm talking about). If possible, you could send that to me by PM or to support@devolutions.net (mentioning this forum thread).

Please let me know if something isn't clear

Hello

I've been investigating the problem and I've tracked down a pair of bugs in the licensing module of our RDP implementation.

The first is caused by a strange interaction between the "auto detect network" feature and the licensing module. As a workaround, we added the option to disable the "auto detect network" function for the next release (and this would've been in the internal build my colleague offered upthread).

However, even with that option disabled, there is a further bug that might still prevent the connection from succeeding. I'm working on the proper fixes for this and will post back in this thread once the updates are available.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately RDP licensing is quite inscrutable: there are many different possible setups and it's hard to evaluate every scenario. I thank you for your patience.

Kind regards,

Richard Markievicz

Hello

These issues should be resolved in the current (2023.2.x) release. Please don't hesitate to post back if you still experience problems.
