RDM SCP for SSH connections does not respect SmartCard authentication settings
When a SSH connection is defined in RDM and Smartcard is selected as authentication mechanism (for example PKCS as Certificate method), embedded SCP does not use these settings.
When trying to open Embedded SCP, error "The server does not accept password authentication" is displayed.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting the Devolutions Service Desk !
Would you be able to provide me your RDM version number ?
Can you also provide me with your data source type ?
Best Regards,
Version: 2023.1.10.0 (running on Windows 10)
Datasource: local SQLite DB file
Hello,
To my knowledge, the Open with Parameters options for SFTP and SCP act like a built-in template. They're temporarily changing the SSH Shell entry to an SFTP or SCP entry.
Are you able to configure what you need in a regular SCP entry ?
Let me know !
Best regards,
As I have not found the SmartCard authentication option for SCP/SFTP entries, so the answer is - no.
Maybe that's then the actual limitation that the SCP/SFTP entries do not support SmartCard authentication currently ?
Hello,
Despite your results, I will still confirm this with our the engineers. However, as of now, my guess is that it isn't possible.
I will get back to you with news !
Best regards,
Hello,
I've spoken with our engineers and we've just opened up an internal ticket to see if it would be possible to add Smart Card authentication in an SCP entry, which could then possibly allow you to use the Open with Parameters SCP option as desired.
Best regards,
