Hi,
I would like to make a feature request.
RDM already has a function to grant temporary access request. Here the user makes a permission request and the configured administrator can approve it.
My problem is that in most cases this request is lost and the administrator does not receive or notice it.
I would suggest to implement an asisstent, where the administrator himself creates a temporary permission for objects on a certain time for certain users.
I also noticed that chained objects are not automatically included in the approval request (Connection + Password Object configured). So the access to the connection is authorized, but the user cannot authenticate, because the credentials are not passed, because the access to the password object was not authorized.
best regards
Benjamin
Hello Benjamin,
This is a very interesting request and we can see why it would be very useful to have. We have opened an internal ticket for this.
For your second point, we have had a few requests to allow temporary access requests on credentials and VPNs to support the case you're talking about with linked credentials/VPNs. We will note your interest in this feature as well.

Hi Benjamin,
I am happy to let you know that it is now possible in RDM 2023.2 for users with the right to approve requests to grant a temporary access directly. A button "Grant Temporary Access" is visible in the ribbon. It is also possible to grant (or request) the access at a specific period of time.
Linked connections such as credentials, VPNs or certificates are now also included in the access request.
Let us know about your experience with these changes and if you encounter any issues.
