I currently use RDM with an On-premise SQL database for the backend. I am looking to move this to the cloud. From what I have seen you can store the same structure of folders and connections in either Azure based SQL or the Password Hub. I do notice that security can not be applied at a folder level inside a vault in password hub. Is there any other limitations in comparison to Azure SQL? I like the idea of Password Hub, but I want to make sure I know the differences before I attempt to make the switch.
Hello Leo,
Password Hub Business allows you to use AAD security groups to assign permissions, which could simplify the management of new and departing users: https://helphub.devolutions.net/hub_connect_azuread_office365_authentification.html
You also have access to a web interface, so you can have access to credentials, websites, etc. even if you do not have an RDM license assigned to your user. This is especially useful if you want to onboard no-IT users in the solution. It is also SOC3/SOC2 compliant: https://cdndevolutions.blob.core.windows.net/documents/legal/security/devolutions-soc-3-report-en.pdf
As you mentioned, the permissions are not as granular, but the engineering team is currently looking to see how it could be changed.

Thanks for the reply. I think I can get around the granular permissions by breaking up my structure into multiple vaults. Mainly concerned about a few systems that I block my level 1 & 2 people from being able to see. I liked the idea of Password hub because it's one less thing for me to manage on the back end. So I just wanted to verify that I wasn't missing anything else that would be missing when compared to my own Azure SQL db. I might end up with duplicate entries in both vaults, but I can live with that. Is there a limitation on the number of vaults?
Hello Leo,
There are no limitations on the number of vaults. There is a limitation on the number of entries in a vault however, which is 2000 entries. This is to ensure the best performance possible. When you create the Hub Business, you should also select the location closest to you to host it in Azure to ensure the best performance.
