I need to quickly jump to the C root location on remote PCs fairly often, and what I do now is: right-click a Host, Open with Parameters > Open Share folders. That open Windows File Explorer to \\hostname, so I just append "\c$" to the path and manually enter my credentials. What is the best way to automate this by adding a shortcut to the right-click menu?
Thanks!
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,
I have a few questions which you can hopefully answer.
I’m also wondering if you could confirm which type of entries you're currently using? Perhaps you could provide me a screenshot of your "Properties"? Feel free to blur or remove any sensitive information.
Let me know,
Best regards,

Hi Sam,
I'm on RDM 2022.2.29.0 64-bit and I basically only use Ultra VNC connections to Windows PCs
Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
I see, I'm wondering if you're able to achieve this by using command lines?
If so, perhaps you could add an "Events" -> "After Open" to your entry "Properties" that would perform the command? To see this section you would need to enable the "Advanced Mode" in the bottom left corner of your entry "Properties".
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Hi Sam, appreciate your help.
That is basically what I am looking for I think. However, I would not like this to happen every time I VNC into a machine.
What do I need to do in order to add it to the Scrpts/Macros/Tools section here? How can I reference a Credential saved in Local Data Source for a script?
I basically need to execute these commands, but want RDM to plug in the Host and Credentialsnet use \\server\share /user:test testpasswordstart \\server\share

Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
I see, the "Macro/Script/Tools" section will allow you to select entries of this type in your vault.
Perhaps creating one of these entries as a Sub-Entry and using the variable $PARENT_HOST$ $PARENT_USERNAME$ $PARENT_PASSWORD$ in the command could work in your case?
It would however only return the values from its parent and would not work for other entries.
Let me know if this helps,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Hi Sam, this definitely looks like a step in the right direction:
However, when clicking this, it also begins a VNC session. Can I prevent that somehow?
I also did not see the variables you mentioned here:
I am trying to use Custom Field 1 as my plaintext username, and then Custom Field 2 as my password, since I do not know how to reference the stored credentials in my Local Data Source.
Any advice?
Thanks again

I see now that I was trying a Typing Macro, which is not what I want.. It looks like I want to use this Command Line macro/script/tool
But it does not show under the Context menu:
Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
Are you using the "Command Line" entry which can be found under the "Macro/Script/Tool" section of the new entry window?
There is also an entry with the same name under the "Sessions" section which could cause confusion.
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
In my last reply, I was using the Command Line entry under the Macro/Script/Tool section. But it does not create an option under the Context menu for any given Session, so I am not sure if this will work for me.
I believe what I need is the ability to add a custom entry to this:
Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
I see, the reason I wanted to confirm this is because of the color of your Command-Line entry in your "Navigation Pane" from my tests it should be green however from your screenshot I can see it is Blue which leads me to believe it was the wrong entry type.
I see you mentioned that you were on version 2022.2.29.0, could you update to the latest version 2022.3.31.0? https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmsetup
Regarding your questions about adding entries to the "Tools" -> "Availability" section, I'm afraid that at this time this would not be possible.
If you'd like I could open a feature request for you regarding this,
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
