After upgrading to 2022.3.29.0 64-bit, none of my RDP connections do anything anymore. I click on them and nothing happens. No error messages.
I've tried a clean install, removing RDM, deleting all the appdata folders (and the single software\devolutions registry key for good measure) and reinstalling, but the problem remains.
I'm using a company wide version with a SQL server, but the same thing happens on my local datasource.
I can use "open external", which connects to my sessions without issue. I've tried switching RDP versions, but nothing helps.
Edit: I've tried the portable version as described in another thread. Same thing. No reaction whatsoever when I click on an RDP session.
Hello,
Are you the only person affected by this issue at your company?
As a test, would it be possible for you to create a portable installation of the latest version of RDM and see if this issue still occurs? To do so, you will need to do the following:
1- Download the .zip file below: https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go to this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager.exe
5- Add an RDP entry and verify if the issue persists.
This test will allow us to rule out your local installation of RDM as a possible cause for this issue.
If the issue still occurs, do you remember what version you had previously? Could you also try to turn off the RDP API hooking? You can follow the solution of this KB to turn it off: https://kb.devolutions.net/access_violation_exception_error_rdp_sessions.html

Thanks for your reply.
And yes, I'm the only one. I have another PC here where it still works as intended, so I'm pretty sure something is up with my Windows 11 installation. (Although I don't experience any other issues, all my other programs and hardware work just fine.)
As I stated, I've already tried the portable installation. I used it to connect to my personal data source, and it exhibits the same issue. Nothing happens when I click on an RDP session. Using the parameter "open external" works as intended, it creates a regular MSTSC connection outside of RDM.
Does RDM need some sort of file-type association or obscure active-x control to work its magic?
Hello,
Everything is self-contained in RDM, the RDP using the embedded mode use an ActiveX, but you do not need to do anything manipulations to enable it.
Could you go to Help > Profiler, go to the debug tab and set the level to 3. Move that window to the side and try to launch your RDP entry again. Does anything appear either as a silent error or in the profiler? If so, post it here, if there is nothing sensitive, or use the "Send Trace to Support" and mention this forum post.

Can do. And did:
Double click triggered
Double click node:Production
Double click triggered
Double click node:PROD-WEU-AVD-01
Double click triggered
Double click node:PROD-WEU-AVD-01
Double click triggered
Double click node:PROD-WEU-AVD-31
So I tried twice on AVD-01 and once on AVD-31. Nothing happens.
Hello,
It does seem something is getting blocked on your Windows 11 machine, but it would be hard to reproduce on our end since none of the other machines behave in the same manner.
If you go to the event viewer, under Applications, do you see any errors? If you want, you can export it and send it to service@devolutions.net

I found the culprit. Riva Statistics Tuner. Disabling that app restored functionality to RDM RDP connections.
I had installed that over the holidays because it felt like the Witcher 3's new ray tracing mode was underperforming on my PC. And I needed proof, dammit!
Sorry for wasting your time.
Hello,
Not a problem, I am glad you found the issue, and it may help someone else in the future!
