Dear all,
we are unable to open an external Application via RDM (OneNote).
We are able to make it work on Desktop, yet it will not work on iOS/iPadOS-Devices.
I have seen an preety much identical issue with a different application, which was fixed promptly.
My hope is that we can enable this functionality in the same way.
Here is the mentioned article: iOS/iPadOS launching external app (devolutions.net)
The prefix for OneNote is onenote:
Example: onenote:https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/support/Freigegebene%20Dokumente/General/MyOneNoteFile
Would this be possible?
Thank you very much.
Hello mg,
I have moved your request to the iOS feature request section of the forum. The engineering team will look at the request after the Holiday break, but it should be possible, the same way it was performed for "jump://" in the past.
Best regards,
Richard Boisvert
Hello Richard,
looking forward to the response by the engineering team.
Thanks for moving the thread to the correct section!
Best regards,
mg
Hello mg,
Yes it will be possible to add this prefix to the list.
It should be available in a future release.
It's really simple but it has to be added to our todo list.
Regards,
André Sanscartier
Hello André,
thanks for confirming it will be added in the future.
I am looking forward to it!

Hello mg,
We are having some difficulties implementing your request.
Onenote doesn't seem to work with "onenote:" from a web browser.
With links generated by Onenote Safary works well in web mode.
But if "onenote:" is added, the Onenote app opens but does not find the page.
We have the same behavior on Windows Desktop.
Before implementing this functionality, we want to be sure that it will work.
Are you able to get it working on your end in Safari iOS?
Regards,
André Sanscartier
Hello André,
I can confirm that "onenote:" links work on our devices and were tested as per below:
We have tested above by using the attached index.html file, which contains an embedded "onenote:" link.
We only changed the tenant name to contoso, the rest is 1:1 identical to our tested scenario.
Upon clicking "Some OneNote Link", the notebook is opened using the installed OneNote-App.

Hello mg,
Thanks a lot!
With this information we will be sure of how to implement it.
We wanted to insert that feature for the next release but unfortunately we found some issues to open external app like Onenote.
We have to fix it instead of just add "onenote:" in the prefix authorized list.
Thus it will be finally added to our todo list for future release.

Hello mg,
we are a bit confused. The code to let pass OneNote link has been in the application for some time now to allow you to perform a test for us, but it appears that an error has occurred and you were not informed of it.
Would you be so kind as to try a OneNote link and let us know if it is now functioning properly?
We appreciate your assistance and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay.
Regards,
André Sanscartier
Hello André,
upon testing it with the latest devolution server version 2023.1.8.0 & iOS AppVersion 2023.1.8, it unfortunately still does not seem to be working for us.
The link being opened in the embedded RDM-Browser, without success.
I am attaching a screenshot of the screen we see after opening the link via RDM.
Best Regards,
mg

Hello mg,
I sincerely apologize for the delay in addressing your concern, and I appreciate your patience thus far.
I must inform you that resolving the support issue for OneNote may take longer than expected, as it is presenting some unexpected complexities.
You will be kept informed of any significant developments or progress made regarding this issue.
Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience this delay may cause, and I genuinely appreciate your understanding.
Best regards,
André Sanscartier
Hello,
Sorry for the long delay. After several attempts, something is preventing OpenNote from working correctly through RDM. We have come to the decision to abandon the implementation of your request.
Best Regards,
André Sanscartier
