If I have never logged in to a server in my repository, my login that I'm using gets locked and a message pops up telling me my login is locked. Once the login is unlocked, I can use that entry without issue. With over 400 servers, not really sure I can make sure I visit each server to eliminate this problem.
Interestingly, when I use RDM from my VDI, I don't have this problem, and I've tried to compare all of the settings between laptop and VDI to make sure everything is the same.
Thoughts?
Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue.
As a test, would it be possible for you to create a portable installation of the latest version of RDM and see if this issue still occurs? To do so, you will need to do the following:
1- Download the .zip file below:
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go to this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager.exe
5- Connect to your data source
This test will allow us to rule out your local installation of RDM as a possible cause for this issue, which seems to be the cases since you do not have that problem on your VDI.
If the above does not help, could you provide us with your version of RDM, what type of data source you are using, as well as a screenshot of what occurs when it locks.
Best regards,
Richard Boisvert
The above wanted me to update the SQL database when I wanted to use the SQL Datasource, so I wanted to avoid that. The message I get is below. The build is
Data Source is SQL Server.
Hello,
You can use this RDM zip file instead: https://cdn.devolutions.net/download/Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Bin.2021.2.29.0.zip
You can use the previous steps to perform the test. Please let us know the result!

Here is the result.
Hello,
The issue seems to be caused by the account lockout feature on the server: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/configure-remote-access-client-account-lockout
After you receive the error in RDM, if you try right away to connect to the same remote machine with mstsc.exe from your machine, do you receive the same error? It would seem the issue is your machine.
Best regards,
Richard Boisvert
Richard,
Yes, it appears that mstsc.exe does the same thing. Locks my login the first time I try to login from my laptop. Thanks for your help, I'll address this issue with our System Engineers here.
