RDM 2022.3.24.0 update isn't migrating playlist and connection logs
Hello,
I have recently updated a Free version with the unified one (2022.3.24.0) but I noticed that my playlist and connection logs were not retained.
Could you assist with this issue please?
Is this a bug or did the DB upgrade not happen correctly?
Thank you for the great product.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,
For the playlist, I believe they can be migrated manually, if you go into "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManagerFree\<GUID>\PlayList\<NAME>.xml"
The <GUID> value would be something like this: 006CFDBC-893F-4312-BA44-58F1E914F29B
while the <NAME> would be what you named your playlist.
You can move the GUID folder which contains your playlist and hopefully the connection logs to the new location which should be by default "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager" make sure RDM is closed while you perform this.
Let me know if this helps,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Thank you Samuel,
I will try and let you know, however, shouldn't those two data lists reside in the DB?
Hello,
It's depend of the data source type. What data source type do you use?

Hello David,
It is a local database/data source.
Hello,
We support both:

It worked fine, I was able to merge the connection log files from both installations and migrate the playlists, thank you very much.
I still support the fact that this is not handled properly by the installer, could you pass it to the installation packaging responsible or the devs please?

Hi David,
I don't fully understand your point to be honest, it is clear that the connection logs and playlists are not stored in the database -which may be a design decision for many reasons-.
Hello,
Sorry to be so confusing. It's possible to save the playlist in the data source when you are using a SQLite database.
The logs stored in the database are only possible with the Team data source like SQL Server, Devolutions Server or Password Hub Business.
