Server - Remote Management settings not reset when node is converted with Edit (Special Actions)
Using Enterprise version 2022.2.24.0 with MS SQL data connection
Here is another one: we have a node built with a previous version of a template where the Server - Remote Management settings were set by mistake. We changed the template to correct the mistake, so that:
We select the node we want to fix, use the Edit (Special Actions) and use the action Convert with Template. On the Entry Parts to Keep, we leave unselected only Host, VPN and Alternate host. However, the entry's Server - Remote Management settings are not reset to not set, as per the template configuration. Apparently there is no option in the parts to keep selection to include/exclude that portion of the entry's configuration.
Thanks.
A small addendum: we have just discovered that the Server - Remote Management checkbox is effectively unchecked on the modified node, so the template settings are somewhat honored. However, the URL for the iLO remains filled with the previous value, even if the entire section is disabled (and even if in the updated template that same field is empty). As such, the URL is shown improperly on the dashboard.
Not only that, but even if the remote management section is disabled, having the URL set enables nevertheless the right menu View / Web Management / Server - Remote Management, which is clearly an error.
Thanks again.
Could you provide a small sample to reproduce the case?
Regards
David Hervieux
Hello David,
From our experience you just have to create a template where you define the Remote Management settings. If you leave the checkbox cleared in the template, the URL for the iLO (in our case) will be cleared as well. If you apply this template to a node which has already data defined for the Remote Management, i.e. assume that the node has Remote Management enabled (checkbox enabled) and a value for the URL, you will see that the checkbox is effectively cleared. The URL however does not, it still retains the previous value (it should have been cleared out by the template).
In this situation, even with the checkbox disabled, RDM seeing that there is a URL defined will show it nevertheless in the node's dashboard (an hyperlink that can be clicked) and the same occurs in the node's context menu, as described in the first post.
We hope it is more clear now.
Thanks.

Hello,
I would like to see if you might be interested in a remote session via Teams with us? I would like to take a recording of the steps required to trigger this issue, to make sure we properly replicate it internally.
If you are interested, please let me know, and send me the email address we can use to contact you by private message, as we will need to open a ticket to organize the remote session.
