Status meanings

Hi
Just started contributing to the Danish translation (a long way to go!). I have questions about the different status an entry can have. Could you please confirm or correct me about these?

New = Not yet translated
Translated = Have been translated
Changed = Devolutions have changed something about the original text and a local translator should check and correct the localized translation?
Under review = If a translation might be wrong and needs attention. Who sets this to Under review and who will review? Does Devolutions have anything to do with this status or is it simply for the convince of the local translators to mark something for review with another translator?
Use original = Something that should not be translated, like a product name or reference in a 3rd party system that should not be changed in translation?

Could a description of the different statuses be added to the help page?

Hi,

You are correct on all statuses.

I will ask the documentation team to include in the status descriptions on the help page.

Just to clarify Under Review is to help translators communicate amongst themselves when they are not sure on the translation and/or the usage of a particular value. Using the comment field you can explain your thinking and if your lucky enough to have help translating your language you can discuss possible translation options.

Good luck and thank you for taking the time to translate. It’s a long process but I’m sure other Danish speaking IT professionals will very much appreciate it.

Best regards,

Hi Stéfane
Thank you for the confirmation. My biggest issue is that it can be hard for me to know exactly how some of these translations are used in the app, but I guess that having 95% good translations (yeah, I think i'm 95% good) and 5% less good is better than no translations. And then we fix the things that is less good as we move along :-)

Hi Anders,

You have a very good strategy and mindset, a 95%-5% split is amazing.

If ever you need help to explain the context of a translation, you can always post it here. We can share with you the context and UI that might help you better translate a given value.

Keep in mind, some translations will be impractical for you to test via the app. Some are so far down a rabbit hole that getting them to display can be hard if not impossible. I wouldn't worry too much about those.

Please let us know when you're about 80% done so that we can include Danish with our official releases and more importantly so that we can send you the "extra incentive". (see link)
