RemoteApp session vs. connection status and VPN disconnection
I have a problem with the configuration. We have RemoteApp programs set up on the windows server. With "manual" operation (OpenVPN connection first, then rdp link) everything works fine.
I wanted to configure in the RDM program to automatically establish a VPN connection and run the application via RemoteApp. However, when launching such a session, RDM as if does not see the established connection and automatically disconnects the VPN before the program's interface can appear. How to set the program to see such a connection as active.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,
I have a few questions which you can hopefully answer.
That being said, from my understanding what you're looking for would be directly in your entry "Properties" under the "VPN/SSH/Gateway" it's possible to use the "VPN Link" option for the "Type" field and "Always connect" for the "Connect" field, then under the "Settings (VPN Link)" you can point to your existing VPN entry.
With this configuration when opening your RDP connection the VPN will be started first.
Finally, if you go under the "Events" -> "After Open" section you can use "Command line" or your preferred method to start the application on your remote host after the connection is started, I would recommend adding a "Pre execution pause" in this section to make it is not done before the connection is established.
Let me know if this helps,

at the moment I am using the latest version of RDM Free 2022.2.26.0 64bin on windows 11
The vpn is set up by the OpenVPN GUI and the connection itself, made by hand and called from an RDP connection, works.
settings from the .rdp file generated from the server were imported into the RDP connection.
On the programs tab the settings are:
Start this program on connection ||name.program
and additionally use RemoteApp is checked and name.program is given.
other settings are standard
as for calling VPN connection it is set according to your video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu4f6h4BJB0
that is, the connection is called automatically when an RDP connection is attempted as no ping response is detected and disconnected automatically when the last connection is disconnected.
As I wrote, the program momentarily sees that the connection is launched changing the icon to a green arrow in a circle. but before the application appears the icon returns to its initial state. It is as if the program no longer sees the connection. this causes the disconnection of the VPN with such a setting. If I do not let the VPN disconnect, the application starts correctly
What to do to make the program see the connection until the application is finished.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
I see, I'm wondering if you could perhaps provide me a small recording of the behavior with an overview of your configuration?
I will provide you a secure link you can use to send us the recording(s) in a private message.
Let me know,
Best regards,

I will have a look at this and get back to you shortly.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
From my understanding since the application is being launched in "External" mode, there is no way for RDM to confirm if it is still open or not.
RDM is simply using command lines to launch the VPN.
To clarify, in this case, the problem would be that the connection status does not remain shown as open when launched from the RDP connection, it is otherwise from this working as expected is that correct?
Let me know,
Best regards,
