Remove forced sorting on the Favorites tab. Bug? Feature Request?

When I added sessions to my Favorites list in RDM, I want to organize them in the order that makes the most sense for me. THe program let's me click on entries and drag them around, and it acts like it's going to let me rearrange them, but then it doesn't. It always puts thing sin alphabetical order.

It's almost as though this is a bug, and not a feature request, since dragging items shows me the arrows or the lines on where the item is going to go, but then it doesn't actually go there. Tried on both the Mac and Windows version, and both act like it should rearrange the items, but then doesn't.

Thanks.

Hello,

I've contacted one of our engineers to confirm if this behavior is indeed intentional.

Hello,

According to one of our engineers, it's not a bug. You can’t organize the order of each individual entry, but what you can do is use custom folders:

Note the grey color of these folders, they aren’t entries of type “folder” that have been favorited, they are custom folders made for organizing favorites. The drag and drop in this context allows you to move the entries within these folders.

Well, then I guess please submit this as a feature request.

I have 8-10 machines that I RDP into all the time so I Favorited them. I want to arrange them so simlar machines are together. Alphabetical sorting doesn't help me in this case. I'd like to be able to simply drag and drop the Favorite list around so I can get them in the order that works best for me. Using your solution I'd have to make a folder for each individual entry and then reorganize them into folders in the proper order? That's not a good solution.

Thanks.

Hello,

Sorry for any confusion, only one custom folder needs to be created and once your entries are entered into the folder they can then be sorted as you desire.

If that is still not satisfactory then I will gladly open a feature request.

Hi. That doesn't work at all. I made a folder called '1'. I moved all my favorites into it. I am still unable to sort them within that folder. They stay in alphabetical order no matter what I do.

And, now that I created two test folders, I can't seem to delete them. The Delete Folder option is grayed out and there's no Delete option under Edit.

Hello,

In that case, I will open up an improvement ticket.

I will update you as the internal ticket progresses.
