Smartcard Redirection in Shadow RDP

Hi together,

Following question is for scenario of a Shadow RDP session initiated via RDM Template: Microsoft RDS Dashboard (Terminal Server)

I was wondering if it's possible to get Smartcards redirected to a destination remote client so you're able to e.g. use the smartcard as admin credential for installing software while in the shadowing remote session.

Within standard RDP sessions the smartcard redirection already works perfectly fine with the RDM.

Hi,

That's an interesting question, I would be surprised if smartcard redirection + session shadowing works at all. Have you tried it with mstsc.exe + session shadowing? If it doesn't work with the Microsoft RDP client outside of RDM, then it's probably not supported by Microsoft.

You're totally right, I was assuming that it would work as it's basically the same protocol, just with another optional parameter. But I've checked and can verify that shadowing in general won't redirect smart cards.
