Hi, I can't seem to get this entry type to work and I can't find configuration instructions anywhere. Several forum posts refer to a link that is now dead:
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/kb_configuringpowercli.html?q=vmware#description
I'm running RDM 2022.2.18.0 and trying to connect to a vCenter running 6.5u3. Installed VMRC version is 12.0.2
I've tried various permutations of the different options (console type, API mode, VM name vs VM Id) and consistently get the error "Could not connect to VMWare Server"
I connect to this vCenter instance via PowerCLI on a daily basis.
Thanks!
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
The link you have doesn't work anymore because we moves our how-to topics from the online help to the knowledge base.
Here is a working link to that topic : https://kb.devolutions.net/rdm_configuring_vmwares_powercli.html
Let me know if you have any additional questions after consulting it!
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Thanks Gabriel. Ran through the process no problem but I don't think there's a 32bit version of the PowerCLI version I'm running (12.6). I see in that link that it says it's valid for PowerCLI 6.5
Hello,
Thank you for your reply!
The help topic might be getting a bit old, I'll see with our documentation team if we could update it to be more up to date.
Other than the 32bit version being missing, did you encounter any issues following the procedure, or is everything running properly?
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
PowerCLI works properly, no errors (I use it daily) but same error in RDM
Hello,
Since I have not updated you on this case in some time, I wanted to let you know that I have consulted our engineering team for their insight on your issue. I will update you as soon as I have new information to share.
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hello,
A member of our engineering team just got back to me regarding your case.
He tells me that typically, when the error "Could not connect to VMWare Server" occurs it's because RDM cannot resolve the address that was given to it.
He asks me to verify if a ping to that address works?
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
