Disabling entries

We habe quite often the situation that old entries are not immediately removed from the datasource but moved to a subtree "old". The problem is, that someone can still start a session in this subtree, something which might not be wanted or outright a (legal) problem as it could be a site of a former client for example. We would like to have the opton to disable entries but not delete them. Would this be possible?
