Change the Datasource Connection to allow for VPN or Sessions Setup

Also noticed that if I switch Datasource it will not check to see if the VPN connection is up and reestablish. It only works on Initial start of RDM.

At the moment this is intended (which is why the option is called "On first connect").
From what you say, in your scenario, you would like RDM to try and connect to the VPN every time if RDM doesn't detect it's already opened? I will open a new ticket with that information as well.

Any word on changing the first connect to check on the connection?

Nothing new for now but the ticket is assigned to a developer. Hopefully we can make this improvement in the upcoming weeks.
As a note it will be a different option that we'll add, so that users already using the "On first connect" option and are satisfied with it will not have a change of behavior.
