Macro to unlock Windows RDP session

Macro to unlock Windows RDP session

avatar

I have an active RDP session from RDM to a Windows Server and a Windows 10 VM, our AD GPO sets a screen saver protects the screen and locks it down. My admin password is like 20 characters long and I don't want to type it every time to re-login to the existing session on the screen. Is there a way I can set up a macro or something to send it the password as Windows does not allow you to paste into the password field?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

In this case, I would recommend the use of the "Type Clipboard" feature to emulate you typing the password into the password field of your locked RDP session.

To have access to this feature, you need to make sure that your RDP connection is launched, go under the "Actions" section of the ribbon of RDM. Please note that you must have the password of this session in your clipboard prior to using this feature:

If you still prefer to use a macro, I would recommend consulting the following help topic in order to be able to create one: https://kb.devolutions.net/rdm_event_auto_typing_macro.html

Let us know if that helps!

Hello,

Thank you for your swift reply!

You are currently on the latest non-beta version of RDM, you do not need to update. That being said, have you opened at least 1 RDP session? Is it in focus?
