Remote Desktop Manager Free
Version: 2022.1.25.0 64-bit
Data Source: SQLite file stored on local network
Recently all credential objects disapeared from the user interface.
New credential objects do not appear after creation.
Credentials are still available to use in connections.
Credentials are not able to be exported to any format.
When deleting a folder with credentials in it, there is a warning that there are "x folders" inside - no reference to credentials.
Reinstalling the application and reinitiating the connection to data source (i.e. removing and readding) - does not resolve the issue.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us regarding this,
That is indeed odd, I'm wondering if the issue persists after performing a "Reset Layout"? You can do so by going under the "Window" tab and pressing "Reset Layout".
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Thanks for the quick response.
Unfortunately, the issue persists after Restting the Layout as described.
Cheers,
Hello,
Thank you for your swift reply!
Would it be possible for you to create a portable installation of the latest version of RDM and see if this issue still occurs? To do so, you will need to do the following:
1- Download the .zip file below:
https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/home/thankyou/rdmfreebin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go in this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanagerfree.exe
5- Enter your current serial
Since the portable installation of RDM does not rely on your local installation of the tool, I suspect that you may not encounter this issue with it.
Best regards,
James Lafleur
Thanks for that James,
I can confirm that by using the portable version I am able to see the credential objects again.
Does this give an indication as to what may be causing the issue with the locally installed version?
Hello,
Glad to see that this test was successful! This means that the issue is most probably tied to your local installation of RDM, be it its configuration or corruption of its layout files.
For this reason, I would recommend resetting your local configuration. To do so, please do the following:
1- Go under your %LocalAppData% -> Devolutions and rename the "RemoteDesktopManagerFree" folder "RemoteDesktopManagerFree.old"
2- While in your "RemoteDesktopManagerFree.old" folder, copy your "Connections.db" file and paste it at the root of your Devolutions folder.
3- Launch RDM
4- Register your RDM free license
5- Go under File -> Data Sources -> Select your local data source -> edit -> use the ellipsis button to update the path leading to your database. You will need to select the "Connections.db" file found under your Devolutions folder.
You should now see all of your entries.
Let me know if that helps!
Best regards,
James Lafleur
Awesome! Thanks for your help.
I can confirm that the steps outlined have resolved my issue.
Great! I am glad to see that this worked for you.
