Unable To Load the SQLite Datasource. The Master Key is Invalid
Hi there, Been using Remote Desktop for over a year now and never had an issue. Loaded it today and getting the message
Unable To Load the SQLite Datasource. The Master Key is Invalid
I have never set a Master Key as its not a requirement to secure it. Wondering why today it has decided to give me this message and prevent me seeing my connections?
Is there a way around this? Can i export my connections somehow?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Chris
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
According to the information I have gathered, this error message will only occur if the Master Key used to unlock your SQlite data source is invalid.
Would it be possible for you to go under File -> Data Sources -> Select your SQlite Data source and make sure that the "Always Ask Password" option is unchecked and then try to use the "Manage Password" option to remove the password? Please note that to do so, you will need to try to find the password that was set on your data source.
Unfortunately, if the Master Key is lost, we cannot recover the content of your SQLite data source.

Hi James and thanks for this. I am an IT consultant ive been using this product for a long time, i never set a Master Password there was no need for me. There is no lock on the DB file, i opened it the other week and it said my master key was wrong. It just occured out of nowhere.
When i go into my "Manage Password" its not locked!, the "Test Connection" is a success too. Even if i give it a password (which i have never done) and do what you asked, and entering the password i gave it, then takes me back to the message "Unable to load the SQLite datasource, The saved master key is invalid. I am assuming a windows update or something has caused this as nothing has changed from my side as i explained. The DB doesnt have a password / key it never has!. But the connection to it etc is successful, it just wont open it without saying the master key is invalid. Very strange.
Have i got anyway of exporting my connections from this at all?
Could your SQLite file be corrupted? Can you try creating a new file, add a few entries to test to make sure RDM is working correctly.
Next, try to open both SQLite files file with any SQLite browser tool (Example: DB Browser for SQLite) and validate that the file opens correctly and browse the data of the Connections table. Are you getting errors?
If you get this error, the file has a master key and it is normal that it can't be opened with a SQLite Browser.
Do you have backups configured?

thanks Stefane, allows me to create a new one and works fine. The db must be corrupt i guess since its never had a password and connects fine via a test without issue..... The file sits on onedrive and i dont currently have a backup. Its ok though i dont have a massive amount in there, just rather have found a resolution but if it means setting it up again its a bit of a pain.
