Devolutions Gateway logs

All these VPN open/close are effectively Devolutions Gateway. It's just clogging up the logs. I don't see any point in them being there. If the session was opened and is configured with VPN, then of course the VPN was connected first.

But if there's a good reason can you please add a checkbox up the top to "hide VPN connections"

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this situation up. We have opened a ticket so we can improve the logs regarding the use of Devolutions Gateway. They aren't very clear, and Devolutions Gateway doesn't "close" so they don't fully make sense either.
We will try to reduce the amount of logs (perhaps even modifying the "opened session" log to note if it was opened through Devolutions Gateway or not), but I can't say what solution we will end up with yet.

Yes I think your suggestion there to log a note if opened through Gateway (or another VPN type) is an excellent one and more relevant. Thanks.

Hi Hubert,

Where did you land with this? We're now finding that opening a connection also gives the inherited credential entry. It would be much better if this was added to the "notes" section of the "Opened session" log entry given is directly related to that action?

Hello,

I will open a different ticket in relation to the logs for the credential usage. We will have to discuss internally what we want to do with this. We already are planning on standardizing logs (to some degree) across our multiple products, so this is something we can add to the discussion as well.

As for your original request about clarifying and maybe reducing the amount of logs relating to the Devolutions Gateway, I will increase the priority.

Have been thinking a bit more about this lately Hubert. Maybe the easiest way instead of reinventing the wheel is simply to add a section in the settings of RDM to set "default values" for viewing logs. Then when you do view the logs, there are checkboxes to enable/disable certain types of logs that use those default values to begin with. That way users can set their view as they wish, but still have access to change it if required. Similar to below.

Hello,

I think that's a good idea. But maybe instead of adding a checkbox directly, we could do like what we have for Password Hub:

So you would be able to remove certain types of messages, and we could save this 'default value' as you say.

What do you think?

Yep, that would work fine and provide a much more attractive interface. As long as you can define the default values that are selected in RDM options. Thanks.
