So we need to constrain some settings for a "folder" and a "company folder" to inherit settings (Specifically the UI settings for "tabs" is set as custom by default.) I'm trying to limit how a folder could be added by someone to make sure they use the a template of the desired folder / company folder rather than just using a blank one.
I dont see a way by the datasource to constrain these settings, so my assumption would be to remove the folder / company folder from the "Type availability" area and then anyone would just add the folder from the templates. The behavior is very strange and I cant seem to understand it though.
If they try to add via by selecting the company folder template it gets added with the correct settings but shows up as a "folder" and not a "company folder". If they add the folder template I created it gets added as a folder properly with all settings (so totally normal). If I remove the session type availability to hide adding a non-template Company Folder, the template for the Company Folder works as intended. This makes me believe that restricting the type availability blocks the ability to create that type regardless if its a template or not. BUT! Why does the folder get added at all then if that availability is restricted as well?
I know this is super confusing and probably makes no sense, it may be something I have to do a remote session to explain fully.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
The course of action you have followed is what I would have suggested. By removing the "Folder" from the "Type Availability" your user will only be able to create a folder by using the template you created. That said, the folder that is created that way should use the type you have configured in the template.
In order to reproduce this behavior on my end, I would like to know which version of RDM and what type of Data Source you are currently using? Also, if you would like to record this behavior, this video can be sent to us using the secure link I provided you via private message.
Best regards,
