PSEXEC

avatar

When trying to use PsExec from within RDM, I get an "access denied" error. If I run it from a command prompt, it hangs for a long time, and eventually I get in (just trying to get a command prompt).

Running 2022-1-12.0 64-bit of RDM and v 2.34 of PsExec

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Oh, wait, I take back the part of it working at the command prompt - it does if I use the -i switch - but then hangs for a long time. Without the switch, it hangs for a long time, and I get "Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."

Not sure if I am searching for the wrong things, but Google has not returned many hits that have anything useful...will keep looking :)

Thanks!

Oh, and one more thing, I have confirmed that I can access $admin on the remote machine(s)...

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you please provide me your command line (no sensitive information please) so I can reproduce quickly?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the delay, have been very busy :) here is the command line:

\\$HOST$ -i -h -u domain\username -p p@ssw0rd cmd

Thanks!

Oh, and I have tried with and without the "-i"

I just included the stuff after "psexec"..obviously the full path to "psexec" preceeds that.

I have been playing with it again today, and directly on an admin command prompt, it works 100% as expected - when using the "-i" switch - no hanging - not sure what was going on the other day.

Also, from within RDM - if on my PSEXEC command, I click the checkmark under advanced to run as Administrator - it DOES work, but I have not needed to do that in the past...so, wondering what has changed...

Thanks!

Hello Quintin,

Thank you for your replies! I am glad to see that you have found a way to make this work. That being said, I will send the information you have provided us to the agent in charge of this topic and he should be able to provide you with more details as to what has changed in the recent versions of RDM.

Best regards,

Hello,

I just did a test, and it is working properly for me using the same command:

And the default Advanced settings:

I did my test with RDM 2022.1.17, if you want to try that version.

Hi there. I think you are doing one thing different. I am running mine as a command prompt...it seems that doing it that way, for some reason now requires running as admin...If I run RDM as an admin, then it works fine. I never used to have to do this...In any case, how are you running yours? You window looks slightly different than mine.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am using the PSExec entry, could you try it that way?

Oh, didn't know that was there...lol...OK, tried it that way...still get access denied, unless I run RDM as admin...

Well, not sure what changed on my computer, but I never used to have to load it as admin...I do note, that PSExec also seems to be run from an admin command prompt in order to connect to other computers...not sure why, but obviously not an RDM issue...anyways, if I have to open RMD as admin, that is a minor detail...just wondering what changed on my machine :)

Thanks!
