Hi. Having an issue where putty sessions marked as embedded are launching in a separate window. Just wondering if maybe this is because I am using the standalone executable version of putty? Any ideas anyone?
Hi,
What kind of issue do you have, a crash or something else ?

I've just started having this condition too. It only happens for some of my PuTTy sessions.
I have them all set to embed but some of them have started opening up in an external window.
RD creates a tab for the session but it doesn't embed the session. It leaves it open externally. When I close the session RD removes the tab.
Hi,
I will verify, the embed solution is a kind of hack, we include the window in our application with some Voodoo call :) Maybe the call is done too soon session. I will verify and see if it's possible to modify the delay.

Yes, maybe a longer delay would help. I use an rsa key to log me on to the server session as it is opened.
Maybe the rsa authentication is what slows the login prompting down and is running into the current time delay you set for the embedding?
That's my best guess. I'm not a programmer. :-)
Hi,
Yes it make sense, thank you for the tips.

Hey,
I'm having this problem too, with all SSH putty sessions. Should this be already fixed?
Kind regards,

What version of RDM do you use?

I'm using the 7.1.0.0 Standard Edition. Putty Version 0.62. I also tried it with Kitty 0.62.1.2 but the same result. Do you have any ideas about this issue?
I continue to have difficulty using PuTTy with RDM, although it is now a different issue with the PuTTy configuration window opening in the tab instead of the session.
I'm currently on version 7.0.3.0. Maybe I'll try an upgrade and see what I get. Will let you know.
I upgraded to 7.1.0.0 and my old PuTTy sessions continue to open in a tab that displays the PuTTy configuration window.
I deleted the old session and re-added it in the new version and it works fine. Apparently, something had been corrupted over time.
I've used RDM for almost three years, so it's not too difficult to believe it just went bad over time with a few upgrades.
I'll rebuild my broken sessions and continue to appreciate the free software that helps me manage over 100 connections.
Thanks again for this great free software.
I will try to add more debug in a version soon. The Putty integration is based on a small Windows hack. For now the workaround is to create a embedded SSH/Telnet session directly in RDM without Putty.

Hi,
Instead of rebuilding your connection one by one, you can import it with the new Putty import tool or export it and verify if you see a different setting. I suspect a small wait delay setting. Try to compare one that work with the other one.
David Hervieux
In the Advanced options of the application, could you change the Putty Embedded delay. Change it to 2000 (2 sec) for a test
David Hervieux
I changed it to 2000, restarted, and got the same result with a session that I have not yet rebuilt.
Do you know if the Putty window is opened after 2 sec? Let's go extreme and try 5000
David Hervieux
I changed it to 5000, restarted, and got the same result. No session opens after 5 seconds. Just the PuTTy configuration window displays in the tab.
It's not a big deal. I can rebuild or reimport my sessions. They work fine after that.
Oh, you mean that it's the Putty configuration that appear and not the black window?
David Hervieux
Correct. The entire main PuTTy configuration window is embedded in the tab.
