Since when did this setting get changed to be off by default? Why does not not stay persistent across multiple clients? Why the change? Why can't you set it globally? Why can you set it in a batch edit?

Thank you for contacting us regarding this,

I have a few questions which you can hopefully answer.

  • Which version of RDM are you using?
  • Which type of data source are you using?


I'm assuming you're referring to the "Allow Password in variable" option in your entry "Properties" under the "Security Settings" section is that correct?

From my understanding the "Allow Password in variable" option has been here for some time, I've found mentions of this option in our release notes dating back to RDM2019, sadly I'm unsure when exactly this was changed.

If this is indeed the option you're referring to, then it is possible to enable this using a "Batch Edit" you would need to select your entries "Edit" -> "Batch Edit" -> "Edit Entries (General Settings)"
