Support of Nitrokey

Nitrokey is a hardware token similar to yubikey etc. Most importanly is that Nitrokey is a full open source product hardware and software. It would be great if RDM would support Nitrokey as hardware token.

By the way, is there a specific mode you are looking to have work within RDM? From looking at it they offer many. I assume it's the OTP mode but I would prefer confirming with you.

Hi Hubert, sorry for not responding. OTP would be great or maybe in combination with Devolution Server FIDO as well, if possible. I am not that deep into this technology.

Hello,

No worry. So from what I understand, you would have two usages:

  • Using your Nitrokey hardware token with the application lock feature in RDM (like how we support Yubikey)
  • Using your Nitrokey hardware token when logging in to DVLS

Is that right? If you can confirm, I will add this information to the ticket.

Hello,

We investigated a bit and we found this:

https://docs.nitrokey.com/pro/otp.html

From what we can tell, if you're using the TOTP mode for your Nitrokey, it should already be supported with RDM. For example to configure the application lock with TOTP, you can go in File > Options > Security and configure TOTP validation:

The same should be achievable with Devolutions Server too, here is a help topic we have about 2FA in DVLS: https://helpserver.devolutions.net/webinterface_twofactor.html

Let us know if this works for you, or if we're missing something.
