Following up on Servicedesk Devo-39816, I would like to place a feature request.
Some of our clients, to whom we have remote access through RDM, are using VMWare Workspace / Horizon and are turning to 2FA OTP.
But unlike many others who often can be used with a Google Authenticator compatible authenticator (which obviously is very well implemented in the OTP possibilities in RDM), VMWare likes it's own authenticator app a lot. This VMWare Verify app is different in som very important ways, being that you cannot activate it with a QR code or Secret Key. You have to use the Send SMS button from within the app, installed on a phone to receive a code to complete the app registration process.
And, in the screenshots I've received, I see a 7 digit code instead of a 6 digit code.
Gabriel did some digging already (see above mentioned servicedesk nr) and suggested to create a case on this forum thread.
So, question is : can you add an OTP to RDM which is compatible with VMWare Verify?
Thank you
Hello,
From what I can tell, VMWare Verify has three different modes of performing second factor:
I'm not sure how well we could integrate the push or SMS modes, but assuming they are using the same TOTP standards as other applications like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, I think we could find a way to allow our OTP entry to generate codes for this. I've opened a ticket so we can investigate.
