CTRL-C causes reset of connection back to Master Password screen

avatar

Any copy action such as right-click Copy or ctrl-c causes a connection reset back to the Master Password welcome screen. Closing app and re-launching only temporarily addresses issue. Problem returns shortly after. Issue occurs on Android 11 One UI 3.1 on both Samsung Galaxy s7+ tablet and Galaxy Phone S20+. Issue occurs on latest version of Remote Desktop Manager available for Android. I do not get the same issue in the Android version of MS RDP for Android.

Due to this bug, your software is unusable on Android. I had to uninstall it since it was extremely frustrating going through this issue constantly.

Hi,

We are not able to reproduce the issue. Are you using your device in Dex mode?

Hi Shawn,

Are you using a keyboard and mouse or you are doing everything with the soft keyboard?

From our understanding the previous version was working fine. Can you confirm?

Hi Nicholas,

I am only using the OEM hard keyboard that came with the Galaxy Tablet S7+. No mouse is being used.

Hi Shawn,

When the issue occurs, do you see you connection in the Opened Sessions section.

To view the opened sessions, open the navigation drawer and select Opened Sessions.

Also, were you using a previous version of RDM Android or is it a first install?

Hi Nicholas,

When the issue occurs, the session is completely killed as no open sessions appears. I have reproduced the issue by opening up an Excel file and duplicating an existing Excel worksheet, then trying to do a ctrl-c on the newly copied worksheet via the Android RDM session.

This is a brand new and 1st install.

Hi,

We've tried to reproduce the issue with several keyboards and devices and we are still not able to reproduce it.

Since we cannot reproduce the issue, we would like to know what are the keys that are interpreted when you press ctrl-c on your keyboard.
To do so, you will have to enable the Developer mode. Please note that this setting should be disabled after the test since the application might not always behave as expected in this mode.. To Enable the developer mode:
1- Open the navigation drawer and at the very bottom, select about.
2- The About Windows will be displayed. Tap 6 times on the Remote Desktop Manager Icon. You should then see the following message that will appear for a few seconds: DeveloperMode enabled!
3- Close the Window
4- Open the Navigation drawer and select Settings
5- You should see the Developer Section in the settings
6- Enable the option: Display key pressed in sessions
7- Go back to your list of connections and open your remote session
8- Press Ctrl, do you see a message with a virtual key code number? if so, what is the number?
9- Press the letter 'c', do you see a message with a virtual key code number? if so, what is the number?
10- If you Press the key Ctrl and keep it pressed while pressing the letter 'c', do you see one or 2 messages and what are the key codes that are displayed?
11- If you use the soft keyboard, tap Ctrl on the bottom toolbar and press the letter 'c', what is the virtual code that is displayed and do you have the same close session problem with the virtual keyboard?

When done, do not forget to go back in the application settings to disable the option Display key pressed in sessions.
You will also have to go back in the About screen and tap 6 times on the Remote Desktop Manager icon to disable the Developer Mode.

We would also like to know you OS Device language and your RDM language (if you have set one).

Hi Nicholas,

Here are the test results:

Hard keyboard
Ctrl = 162
c = 67
Ctrl-c = 162 then 67

Soft keyboard
Ctrl = no code
c = 67
Ctrl-c = 67

Attempting to reproduce the issue with hard keyboard gives code 67 then kills open session.

The OS device language is EN-us and RDM language is English.

Hopefully, this gives more information for troubleshooting.

Shawn

Hi Shawn,

Thank you for the info.

If you use Ctrl-c with the soft keyboard does it work as expected?
