Bring touch UX in line with MS app

I'm blown away by how responsive and smooth this app is compared to MS' own app.

However, what keeps me from using it regularly is the fact that I:

  • Can't simply drag things but have to do that double tap thing

Can't right click by long pressing but instead need to exit full screen to do that one-time-right-click trigger

Need to switch to touch mode and full screen every time I connect to my machine. Alright, this is actually something I could live with but at the same time probably the easiest to resolve, since it should be trivial to have the app store this for future sessions?

EDIT: Ouch, don't know what happened to the bullet points. They looked fine before submitting the post...

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

  • We are currently working on the long press/right click.
  • In the application settings, under User Interface, SESSIONS, you can enable the option: Open session in Full Screen. When enabled, all your sessions will automatically open in full screen mode. You can also switch between full screen and the toolbar by tapping the screen with 3 fingers.

Oh, awesome, thanks for the fast response! I'll need to try that tomorrow and great to hear that you're working on the right click.

Although I'd like to stress that the dragging behavior is key. At least for me. I use that a lot more often than right clicking. :)

Hi,

The problem with the long press for dragging is that it will already be used to trigger a right click.
Do you know of any applications that allow you to do both? We've tested with the Microsoft RDP application
and were not able to drag with a long press. The long press triggers a right click. To drag with MS RDP we have to double tap and drag (same thing as our application).

The behavior isn't "long press and drag" but just "drag". No need to wait. With MS' RDP app, one can use the mobile device like a touch screen.

Which reminds me - when you tried it, are you sure you used it in touch mode? Because in touch mode, double tapping is like a double click - it will e.g. maximize a window.

You are right, the drag works in touch mode with the MS app.

The double tap and drag has been the way to drag and select items since the very first release of the application.
You are the first user to ever report this. That's why we are not to keen about changing this behavior.
Still, we will add it to our todo list. If we implement this change, we will have to add an option in the application settings that will have to be activated by the user to force this behavior instead of the default one.

Alright, thanks for the update. Moonlight has been working well for me anyway. Remote desktop manager would be superior due to using the full device resolution but... for the time being it's a bearable alternative.

Hi,

In the upcoming 2023.3 version, you can achieve this behavior by reducing the long-press delay.

To access this setting, simply navigate to the application settings, go to the user interface section, and scroll to the very bottom to find the "Delay" option.

Hello,

We have released a new update that includes a fix for the touch mode, specifically the delay setting, which you can now fully customize.
