ssh session with two differnet users authenticated by private keys
Hi, i'm new to RDM and i like to create a ssh session with the ability to login with two different users. I like to choose the user when I start the session.
At first I have created an private key in my account settings and transferd the public key to the machine I like to connect to.
Then I created a new ssh-session with the address. In the section "private key" I choosed "my private key". But where can I enter the user name for the connection,
Are there any documentation explaining the vault and the different authentication-types?
Currently I'am using rdm 4.0.30319 in the free edition.
Perhaps i have to use the Enterprise Edition?
Greeting
Detlev.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
Would it be possible for you to provide me with screenshots of the current configuration of your entry? If you wish to use 2 different sets of credentials, you may want to opt for a "Passwordlist" credential entry. The only drawback is that entry cannot store "Private Keys" which means that you would need to connect to your session using a Username and a Password.
You can point your SSH Shell entry to it by using "Linked "Vault" credential mode:
When the "My personal private key"(2) type is used under the "Private Key" (1) section of your SSH Shell entry, you need to use the ellipsis (3) in order to enter your credentials:
As for your other questions, since you are using the Free edition of RDM at the moment, I suspect that you must be using the SQLite data source that is created by default upon opening RDM for the first time. On a side note, which authentication type are you referring to?
Best regards,

Hi James,
my question at the end of my last writing was a general question concerning the documentation. I found https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com but it seems to be a very small documentation. RDM has so much features, and i'am searching for a reference.
I think i found a solution connecting with two differnet users to a ssh-session. I created two private-key entries in a folder an a ssh-entry with the credential-setting "Linked Vault".
Now i can connect
For security reasons, we take for every customer a new private key, so the disadvantage currently is, that I have to choose the private-key vor logging in from the complete list.
Is there a possibility to reduce the list to the folder "test-ms", for example?
Best regards Detlev.
Hello,
Thank you for your swift reply!
In regards to documentation, we have https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html and our knowledge bases https://kb.devolutions.net/index.html. If you are looking for features that are not listed here, please let us know and we will be able to provide you with the information you are looking for.
I am happy to see that you have found a way to achieve what you are looking for. That being said, the only way to filter this list would be to use the "Search" filter found at the top of your "Credential List" window.
Best regards,
James Lafleur
