remote desktop manager locks up when remote connections are closed

If I reboot a linux machine while an SSH session is opened, I get a connection error dialogue box that I can't interact with and I have to kill the task to be able to use the remote manager again.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

Which version of RDM and what type of Data Source you are currently using? Do you experience the same issue if the connection is active outside of RDM? Also, are you using an SSH Shell entry in RDM?

Best regards,

RDM 2021.2.23

Yes, it's a SSH shell entry in RDM, local data source.

Using PowerShell SSH, or any other SSH client, I wouldn't imagine I would get a connection error dialogue box from RDM if I reboot the target machine, unless I also had a SSH session opened in RDM to the same machine at the same time.

Hello,

Thank you for your swift reply!

Could you please go in the properties of your SSH Shell entry, under the "Advanced" tab, and set the "Disconnection Action" to "Close" and see if the same issue occurs?

Didn't impact anything. Still getting the dialogue box popup when the connection is terminated.

BTW, it doesn't lock up every single time, probably 1/10 times.

I notice I frequently have weird interaction problems with this application. Like I can click on an open remote terminal and it somehow clicks through to another window in the background, behind the RDM manager, and minimizes the RDM manager. Happens on multiple PCs with Windows 10, 11, Server 2016 and Server 2019 - as does the SSH session ending locking up the application. Dunno if the two issues are related.

Hello,

Thank you for your swift reply!

I can confirm that both issues are not related.

For the issue you are experiencing with your SSH Shell connections, I would like you to try something else since the last option did not work for you. Could you please go back in the properties of your SSH entry, under the advanced section, and set the "Display error messages" to " No"' once this is done, try to reproduce this issue again.forum image

The issue where the focus seems to fall from RDM on another application on your desktop has been reported to us in the past but sadly since it cannot be reproduced reliably, we haven't been able to implement a fix for it.
