im currently preparing an update to the latest RDM Version.
But im currently stuck at a few problems, hopefully you guys can help me!
Currently i have linked our RDM License to our Data Source:
I made this via: Administration -> System Settings > Serial Number -> Manage Licenses:
I also have "Auto assign new users" checked. Checking this option (in my understanding) has the feature, that every user who is trying to connect to this data source, will also be linked to the License, means that the user will get automatically access to the Datasource on the first start of the RDM Client. This is sadly not happening. What happening is that the user is getting CREATED in RDMs own database, but its not getting automatically linked to the license.
This means that I would neeed to manually assign users to the License, so they get access to the Data Source. I want to avoid this and make automatic.
2.I built an .msi file with our data source included. When the user is starting the .msi for the first time, we get this:
Is it not possible to automatically try to use the 2nd option "Use registration from data source"?

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
Since you will be updating RDM to a newer version, which includes a new license menu, I would recommend to update yourself before setting up everything, so that everything is already configured in the new license system.
In the new license system, the possibility to automatically assign licenses has been removed. Although I do not know why exactly this change was made, I can tell you that with the new system, you will have to assign your license to new users manually after they are created. I hope this does not inconvenience you too much.
Regarding your second question, in order to include the "Use registration from data source" option, you will need to make sure that the data source configuration is also included in your custom installer package. Otherwise, this option may not be applied with the custom installer.

Our engineering team has just let me know that the option to automatically assign licenses has in fact not been removed, but that it will only be available with a license that supports an unlimited number of users, such as a "Site Unlimited" license.

2, I included the data source in the custom installer manager, but it still asked for it. Does it matter if i install the .msi via an Upgrade, or do I need to uninstall the old version first?

I have provided you with a new key via private message. As mentioned, I would like you to enter this new key under Administration -> Licences, then create a new custom installer and see if the same issue occurs if you run it on one of your clients.
