Hi,

just trying the Windows client (edited: Password Hub Desktop app for Windows) and I see that the search feature is quite limited againts RDM ones. For example:

  • Test corp (parent folder)
  • AD test.local
  • server01
  • server02
  • testnas01


If I look for "test", the GUI shows me:

  • Test corp
  • AD test.local
  • testnas01


It seems that search only looks for the entry name, but it's impossible to search for all entries under a folder. We are planning to build folders structure based on clients names, but looking for all entries for a client by the search is rather impossible. Are we missing something?

Hi Nicola,

Can you share a screenshot of the search you are mentioning? There's an multi-vault search (magnifier icon) and there's a entry filter by name. Also, when you mention the Windows client, are you talking about the Password Hub Desktop app?

Hi,

yes, I'm talking about Password Hub Desktop app, but it's the same for web based GUI. Search feature is quite limited against RDM ones, and i fear unusable for non-RDM users.

We are planning migrating our SecretServer to Password Hub but, as MSP, having folders for each client, is mandatory to search for client name and have filtered all entries under that folder. In SecretServer we have the client name info on each entry (and the field is included in the search index), so search feature works in that way. How can we reach the same with PH for users without RDM?

Any PH MSP examples to study?

Hi Nicola,

If you search for the name of the client, it should find the appropriate folder.

Once you click on that folder, it will bring you to that client's folder.

There's also the possibility of filtering entries by tags. (Display by tags/category will be removed soon.)

As for the filtering by name itself, I will add an improvement so that we can check what can be done.

you are right, I was talking about "filtering". I was confused by the search box of RDM.

Anyway, search can be a way but you have to click on the folder, so it's more time-consuming than filtering.

Don't know about tags, I see them more suitable for a cross-client link then for "client name". I will think about it.
