Problems with Keepass credentials "My personal credentials" - all entries the same
Hello, everyone!
First of all, I apologize in advance for my poor English.
we have been using the Remote Desktop Manager in conjunction with Keepass for years.
We have many RDP connections in our database.
These connections are linked to individual entries in the Keepass.
About two weeks ago we updated to the latest version of RDM.
Since then we have not been able to add any personal Keepass entries to our RDP connections.
Each RDP connection then has the same entries.
I'll give you the steps I take:
1. Editing of the properties of an RDP connection
2. Credentials > my personal credetials > ...
3. Mode Plugin > Database select - manually Path (Keepass plug-in is installed)
4. Entry > Default (specific UUID) > UUID select
If I now try to carry out these steps for a new RDP connection,
then the previously set UUID is always displayed to me.
I hope I made myself clear enough?
Can you help me?
Best regards
Martin
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
The "My Personal Credentials" credential mode only supports a single credential, shared on all entries that use "My Personal Credentials", so if you need to use different credentials for different entries, you will not be able to use this credential mode.
Our development team recently opted to flag the "Embedded" credential mode as Deprecated. I am guessing this is probably the credential mode you were using previously.
The current method to retrieve credentials from external password managers, such as KeePass, is to create a separate KeePass entry in your vault, and to use it in your sessions with the "Linked (Vault)" credential mode, which allows you to pick the KeePass entry as your session's credentials.
With that said, although it was marked as deprecated, the Embedded credential mode is still available and fully functional, so you can still configure your entries the same way you did in older versions of RDM.
You can re-enable the Embedded credential mode by going to File > Options > Advanced and enabling "Allow embedded credential source mode (deprecated)".
Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any additional questions on this subject!
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hi there,
Thank you very much, the information helped me a lot.
But do I understand correctly that I can only continue to use Keepass in this form by activating the "Allow embedded credential source mode (deprecated)" function?
The first two suggestions you made don't relate to the Keepass, right?
Best regards from Germany!
Martin
Hello,
I sincerely apologize. I realize looking back at my previous message that I mixed up two different cases. I provided you the correct information, but managed to mention the wrong password manager. I have now edited the message to reflect KeePass, and the information should now be relevant to your case. I invite you to read it again and let me know if you would like any additional clarifications.
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
