I'm running RDM 2021.1.36.0 on an AWS Workspace I access from my Mac laptop. The right shift key works fine in the rest of the OS and even in RDM itself (options, adding sessions/credentials, etc) but when I'm in an RDP session the right shift key never works on the remote computer. Left shift works fine, I haven't been able to find any other keys that don't work.
I've disabled all RDM shortcuts as a troubleshooting step, verified keyboard language, and tried the different RDP versions (couldn't get FreeRDP to connect to the handful of VMs I tested on). Microsoft/now Sysinternals RDCMan does not show this same behavior.
Hello,
Which option is selected under Local Resources inside your RDP session?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Thanks for the reply Jeff!
"Default (On the local computer)", though I've tried "On the remote computer" as well with no change
Hello Eddie,
Thank you for your swift reply!
Are you currently using the Free or the Enterprise edition of RDM? Also, what type of data source are you on?
If you launch the "On-Screen Keyboard" on your local host and attempt to use the right shift key, do you experience the same issue? Does the same thing occur if you instead run it on your remote host?
Best regards,
James Lafleur
Hey James,
On-screen keyboard works properly from both the remote and local hosts. I do notice, however, that no matter which shift key I click (left or right) they both get highlighted, so not sure if it's registering the same keystroke as the right-shift on my keyboard.
Hello Eddie,
Thank you for testing!
I've been going through the exchanges in this thread but could not find which type of data source you were using could you confirm this?
Also, I'm wondering if you could test using a portable instance of the latest version of RDM to see if you encounter the same behavior?
To do so, you will need to do the following:
1- Download the .zip file below:
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go in this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager64.exe
5- Enter your current serial
Since I'm not sure which Edition of RDM you are using here are also the steps for a portable instance of the Free Edition:
1- Download the .zip file below:
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmfreebin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go in this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanagerfree.exe
5- Enter your current serial which you can find here: https://customer-portal.devolutions.com/serials
That being said, I suspect this issue may be due to the fact that you're going through multiple hosts.
