VPN Sophos/OpenVPN cannot fill up credentials correctly

avatar

Hi all, I cannot fill up credentials correctly into the VPN form. I use especially Sophos VPN SSL that is basically an OpenVPN connection.
When RDM fill up the forms automatically, often it misses some part of my username. For example my username is "michele", it fills up using "ichele" or "ele" or "hele" and so on. Do you have an idea how to fix it or workaround it?

Hello,

Could you try using "use authentication file" in the login tab:

The screenshot is from OpenVPN, but it's available in the same location for SophosVPN.

When this option is checked, RDM will create a temporary file containing the credentials, and instruct the VPN to use this file for the login. After the login is done, it will then delete this temporary file. This is the only way we have to workaround this issue unfortunately.

wow it works! I didn't know about this option and workaround, thank you for sharing!
Just a quick info, is the file saved in encrypted mode locally? Just to be sure I'm safe in case of stolen laptop.

Glad this works for you!

Unfortunately, it's not possible for us to encrypt this information. The reason for that is that OpenVPN/SophosVPN require the information to be in clear text in the file. It doesn't support sending the credentials through the command line directly either, only by referencing an authentication file, so our hands are tied regarding how to send this information.
And as you could tell, the downside of the default method (which simulates keystrokes), is that it's unreliable in certain scenarios.

I hope this answers your questions.

Hi guys,

Just to open up this "old" topic.
I have the same issue as micheleberardo explains.
The only thing is, we are using OpenVPN in combination with a One Time Password (OTP).
Using the option "Use authentication file" is not an option, since it is not filled or accepted, either way the server does not accept it.

Is there a possibility to increase (mabe with an extra option) the waiting time between detecting the login window and filling the credentials?
In my case, I'm using "Login window title". Waiting a bit longer might solve the problems.

Thanks!

Hello,

I will open a ticket to add an option for this. We will post back in this thread once we have added the option.

Hello,

We've added the Autofill delay setting in the Login tab (same area as in the screenshot provided by Hubert Mireault). With it you'll be able to configure the delay between the opening of the window and the sending of credentials. This feature should be available as early as next version and will hopefully fix your problems.
