How to auto-resize guest?

avatar

Hi all

I'm using the latest version of RDM as of today, with an RDP guest (Win 10), and (for example) if rdm starts the connection not maximized, and the guest is totally filling the guest area (which is how I want it) and then I either manually resize by dragging the border, or click the Maximize button on the RDM window, I'm left with a light gray border around the guest, as per the screenshot:

I want RDM to auto resize the guest to always totally fill the guest area like it did upon first connection, now matter how I resize the RDM window. I've tried turning on/off the "Smart Sizing option on the Actions tab, but it appears to do nothing different, as well as tried clicking "work area screen", but that instantly disconnect me from the guest (weird).

Clicking "full screen" does what you'd expect; hides the RDM window, but doesn't actually blow the guest screen up to fill my host screen; I just get black thick borders like the gray ones above, and no RDM window, just the drop-down bar at the top. Now, once I click on the close button on that drop-down the guest DOES now properly fill the entire RDM guest area, but I think that's kinda "hacky" for lack of a better term, to have to manually go full screen and close it again just to remove the borders when re-sizing the RDM window.

Am I missing a setting somewhere to do this the proper way?

Hello,

if I understand it right, you want to use the grey area also for the RDP connection?

Which setting have you configured in

  • File => Options => Types => RDP => Screen sizing mode
  • Session => Properties => Display => Screen sizing mode

I would recommend to set the option Smart reconnect in the second location first (this is only for this specific session) to verify if this is what you're looking for.
If its fine, you can configure this option global in the first location

@Min

thank you, smart reconnect solved it. It was originally set on for Global, but off for the session, not sure why. I had assumed since it had the word "reconnect" in it that it involved disconnecting/reconnecting the connection rather than having anything to do with the effect on just re-sizing the window.
