vmware synchronizer question

I've got the VMware Synchronizer setup and working which is good for getting connections into RDM, but it isn't as functional as I would like. My ideal workflow would be synchronizer identifies class of VM and creates a connection with the appropriate template type, for instance

Windows = RDP

*NIX = SSH

else = console

The only way I've been able to come up with this sort of functionality is if i segregate VMs by OS into folders in vCenter, but that is untenable for my situation because of how we use folders. Is there a way to do this with what's already been built and I'm just missing it?
