I have two technical support accounts on my servers.
Is it possible to block kick someone from the server?
I know that you can turn on the "warn if already open" option, but it only informs you that someone is logged in (apart from the fact that when two people are logged in, it only informs about one logged in). I would like a message asking for admission. When logging in normally after RPD (not using RDM), there is information about the limit of logged in users and the possibility of allowing someone to enter the server when they no longer need to be logged in.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
I am not too familiar with the feature you are referring to. Would it be possible for you to provide me screenshots of how you would configure this with MSTSC along with the message asking for admission? With this information, I will then be able to see if we have something comparable in RDM that can be used to achieve this.

Sure...
If two users are connected to the server then the following message appears:
The user receives the message:
Than we can choose.
In RDM, when trying to log into the same user, it disconnects immediately.
Hello,
Thank you for your quick reply!
We suspect that this may be a limitation of the ActiveX we are using to launch RDP connection using the embedded display in RDM. For this reason, would it be possible for you to install RDC Manager from Microsoft and see if the same behavior occurs with it? Since both applications use the same ActiveX it will allow us to confirm this.

Hello.
I understand that I am installing rdcman.msi on my computer?
Do I have to configure the session in RDM in any special way?
Best regards,
Hello,
This test will need to be performed in RDC Manager directly. I would like you to create an RDP connection in it and see if the same behavior occurs. If it does, it will confirm that this is indeed a limitation of the ActiveX used in both applications to launch RDP connection in embedded.

Yes, it works exactly the same.
For me it is the desired effect. Can it work the same or similar in RDM?
I don't want the user to be kicked from the server without warning.
Thank U for your help.
Hello,
Sorry for the delayed answer, I am currently testing this scenario on our end to see what can be done in RDM to achieve this. I will be in touch as soon as I will have an update on that matter.

Hello,
After being able to reproduce this scenario in RDC Manager, I have created a brand new test environment of RDM, using a portable installation and I have been able to receive the following prompt when my second user tried to connect to the same host:
If I choose "Yes", I can see that the user that is currently connected to this remote host is receiving the following message:
Since this works for me in RDM, I would like you to try to create a brand new portable installation of RDM and see if this works for you using the default configuration. To do so, you will need to do the following:
1- Download the .zip file below:
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go in this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager64.exe
5- Enter your current serial

Ok. I have conducted the tests and I already know what's going on.
A message asking for admission to the server appears when two users are already logged in and the third is trying to log in. It doesn't appear when we try to log in with a user who is already logged in.
There would be no problem if the RDM showed that two people are logged in, and it looks like this:
Two people are logged in to the EVE server at the same time
User Michał is logged in to the rdm_tech_1
User Artur is logged in to the rdm_tech_2
In the list of RDP entries, the program only shows Michał
When I try to log in to the server, it shows me that Arthur is logged in on the rdm_tech_2 account
Why in both cases, I do not have information about two currently logged in users?
If I had not used the option presented in the first screenshot, I would not know that the rdm_tech_1 account is taken.
Hello,
Thank you for your swift reply and for all of these details. I have opened a ticket with our Engineering Department to see what can be done on that matter.
I will be in touch as soon as I will have news on this.

James Lafleur
