Hudu is a documentation platform similar to ITGlue but ask MSPs around the world and it's growing much faster and getting far more popularity than it's competitors.

  • It's API engine is also much well documented so creating an integration should be much easier than the time you spent integrating with ITGLue

The request

  • The community is interested in "credential integration", like you did with ITGlue. The developers are super friendly and super quick to respond and can simply be contacted by emailing support@usehudu.com and expect a response within 1-4 hours

Purpose: To store and retrieve credentials but more importantly retrieve

An amazing amount of companies have moved away from ITGlue and ITBoost to Hudu due to their lack of innovation and reluctance to change/improve anything as they had grown to be the best and most MSPs can't afford not to change or innovate

Hello,

Thank you for the request and the details on what you'd like this new integration to do! I've opened an internal ticket for this request, and we'll update this thread once we have more information on the status of the integration. Unfortunately I can't give you an estimate on when we'll be able to work on this yet.

Thank you. I am confident that with the growth and demand for this solution and with votes from customers/partners, the popularity will go fast, which will help prioritise this internal task(feature request)

I would also agree with this request. Hudu is an excellent documentation tool that we switched to a few months ago. The API is very well documented and I would think it would be very easy (compared to ITGlue) for an integration.

I would think the most important piece is the credential objects, but potentially there is an option for syncing the data or other documentation pieces such as articles.

Hello,

We've noted your interest in the integration, thanks for letting us know! For now we will focus on a credential entry (like what we did for ITGlue). We aren't ruling out a documentation integration but it's more complex since we don't already have a framework for supporting this in RDM yet.

Any update/movement/ETA on this?

It's becoming crucial as more and more companies are moving from ITGlue and ITBoost to Hudu so would be great to have this as it restricts us from functioning properly and means we end up using RDM less due to not being able to link passwords

Hello,

Nothing new yet, as we've been focusing on our 2021.2 release. We should be able to start working on this afterwards, and we'll update this thread once we have more information on when this new integration will be available.

Thanks a lot. Is it reasonable to expect the functionality by Dec 2021 or you think it will take longer than that to put in place?

Hello,

We're currently planning to release 2021.2 in September, so unless there are any unexpected changes of plan, I think we should be able to start work on that afterwards. I definitely think it will be possible to complete before the end of the year, if the API is well documented and we don't hit any snags.

Out of curiosity, what kind of datasource do you use? Is it DVLS? If so, be aware that it will also require a DVLS update to support Hudu.

Awesome, thanks. Can't wait to use it and hear more about it
We use MS SQL Standard Database

How are we progressing with this Hubert? Looking positive to release the feature over the next 1-2 months?

Hello Sam,

We are currently focusing on our 2021.2 release (a first beta is currently out), but integrating with Hudu is in our short term plan once we make the full release of 2021.2. The estimate of 1-2 months is fair, it will definitely be before the end of the year, and sooner rather than later.

Hello,

We are currently working on the integration and should be finished soon. It will be available in RDM 2022.1 which is planned to be released in January. Unfortunately we started the integration too late to have it make it in 2021.2.

Hello,

A credential integration of Hudu has been completed internally and should be available starting from RDM 2022.1.

That's excellent. What's the ETA? Is that Jan 2022?

Hello,

We do not have an exact release date yet but we do plan to release version 2022 during January of this year.

Now that this feature is available, do you know how to store the API and URL globally so that we don't have to enter it in with every credential object? Or better yet, is there a way to sync objects?

avatar

Hello,

You currently have 2 options available for you.

  1. Create a template in Files -> Templates -> Entry Templates. From there you can create a Hudu template and once that template is created, you will be prompted to select a template every time you create a Hudu entry. If you added a host and API key in the template, they should automatically be added to your newly created entry.
  2. Use the "Always prompt with list" feature in the Hudu entry properties. This will make you choose which credential entry you wish to use from your Hudu environment every time you try to connect to your sessions using your Hudu entry. You can select a company if you want a more specific selection prompt.

So I am just coming across this and I am super excited, but have 2 questions on this.

  1. When using this credential entry does it query the HUDU portal each time for the credential or does it cache locally and update on RDM startup? My company has a pretty strict policy on not storing credentials locally or in any cloud thats now owned by them.
  2. Is this credential entry only available with a paid version of RDM?
avatar

Hello Eazy,

  1. We never store any passwords locally. The only thing we keep in the database, is the ID of your Hudu entry when you select it in the properties. We then use this ID to fetch that entry's information on every use.
  2. The credential entry will only work on a "paid" enterprise registered datasource like the ones shown in the screenshot below.

If you do not wish for a Team solution, the Devolutions Hub Personal or SQLite datasource should also support an enterprise license.
