Terminal output with 2021.1.30.0 64-bit

I recently upgraded to 2021.1.30.0 and now when I connect to a remote telnet session to a serial port on a device, I get the following:

ONIE:/ #
ONIE:/ # ??#??$???2???? 38400,38400????'????XTERM-256COLOR??
> ??"??????!????
>

The switch serial baud rate is 115200. This does not occur on version 2019.2.24.0 and also didn't happen on versions earlier than what I'm using right now. I noticed more options between these two versions for the session so maybe there is something in those settings. Can someone help me work around this issue until it is resolved please?

If I understand correctly, you are having problems with the Telnet entry (and not with the serial port entry). In this case, since it seems you upgraded from 2019.2.24.0 to 2021.1.30.0, I suspect a change that was made in the last version of 2020.
If it's the case, I sadly can not give you a work around, but I can make a fix for the next version.

Denis,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually, I believe I have found a work around which is to use SSH connections with serial port redirect instead of telnet. It's working perfectly fine this way. To provide specifics in case someone else runs into this, we are using some ZPE console servers and the devices we are connecting to are defaulted to use 115200 for the console port. I don't have this issue when connecting to 9600 bps devices and like I said, works perfectly fine if I use SSH instead of telnet. I am suspecting something changing from the previous 2021 build. Given that our organization is pushing for better security, this shouldn't impact us a lot going forward.

That's an excellent news, thanks for the feedback!

I will still make the correction though, but not as prioritized.
