Dynamically generate password+OTP

Dynamically generate password+OTP

avatar

We have 2FA set-up via RADIUS using a form of password+OTP to authenticate.

Is it possible in Remote Desktop Manager to say get the current value of a OTP and dynamically inject it into another entry for the purpose of authentication?

The goal is to make it so a user only needs a single click to start a session and to eliminate manual copy and pasting.

Hi,

The only thing that can kind of do something like this is the RSA SecurID entry. It's a simple entry with a Username and a Pin fields. When a session linking to it is launched, a prompt is shown to enter the OTP, and the OTP is appended to the Pin (Pin + OTP) which is then used as the password of the entry.

There is no way at the moment to automatically resolve an OTP and append it to the password of an entry.

Is the RSA SecurID entry available on MacOS? It doesn't appear for me when searching.

Are you using the Free version?

At the moment, RSA SecurID is only available in the Enterprise version. If you want to test the feature, you can download the Enterprise version (it comes with a 30-day trial period). We'll see what we can do later on. I'm also opening a ticket for the feature of automatically appending the OTP generated by the OTP entry at the end of a password when launching a session.

Hi Phatmandrake,

In RDM 2021.1.10.0 (only Mac for now), it's now possible to link an OTP entry to a session and configure it to append the one-time password to the session password on launch:
OTPCombine.png
This is available in the Free version.

Exquisite, Phenomenal, Magnifique!

A thousand blessings unto you and your kin.

I'm ecstatic I can't thank you enough.

For the record (and the web crawlers), this is being used to streamline a 2FA enabled Meraki VPN connection workflow. Using a password + OTP form of 2FA via RADIUS. Which is especially cumbersome to do using the native OS interface.

I'm glad to hear you like it!

Do not hesitate for any other issues or requests.

I hope the same functionality comes to windows as well.

It will. It's expected to reach an official version of RDM Windows for the 2021.2 release (which should be sometime in fall).

Thumb up for that feature. Waiting for 2021.2 release.
